WARDOGS: 100-Player, Three-Team Tactical Warfare FPS with a Persistent Cash System

WARDOGS is a large-scale military shooter where up to 100 players split into three teams and fight over a moving objective zone. Its twist is the money. You buy your loadout each life with cash that carries over between matches, and you earn that cash by supporting your team as well as by getting kills. If you like big-battle shooters where vehicles, destruction, and base building matter as much as aim, this is the concept worth a look. The game is in Early Access on Steam, so it is still being developed.

About the Game

The Steam page describes a tactical, all-out warfare FPS set in the derelict industrial mountains of Eastern Europe, in a modern military setting. Matches are loosely based on “King of the Hill”. Three teams compete for control of randomized 2×2 km Control Zones inside larger maps. The team with the most players inside the zone earns points, and the first to 100 points wins.

The developers say this is neither a battle royale nor an extraction shooter. They describe it as a player-driven sandbox where communication and teamwork are rewarded, with local (proximity) voice chat tying it together.

Key Features

  • Three-team, up to 100-player matches. Fights are not simple two-sided battles, so alliances and threats can shift from one zone to the next.
  • Randomized Control Zones. The objective location changes, so you can’t rely on memorizing one fixed hotspot.
  • Persistent cash system. Every player starts with $10,000, buys a loadout each life, and keeps the cash between matches. Saving for a vehicle or better gear is a real decision.
  • Cash for teamwork. Reviving squadmates, transporting teammates to the zone, and holding the objective all earn money. Supporting your team can be as profitable as fighting.
  • Hot Zone bonus. The store page says chasing the Hot Zone pays double cash, which rewards taking on the riskiest area.
  • Destruction. The store page says rocket launchers can bring down apartment blocks and tanks can tear through towns, so cover can change during a match.
  • Base building. Teams can fortify key locations, such as building a forward operating base at a chokepoint.
  • Vehicles and varied roles. Examples from the store pages include helicopter supply runs, artillery tanks, and sniping in a ghillie suit.
  • Proximity voice chat. You can coordinate with teammates, and the developers also mention using it to taunt enemies.

Gameplay and Player Experience

I haven’t played WARDOGS, so this section only describes what the official pages say.

Each life starts at the loadout stage. You spend cash on weapons, gear, utility, or vehicles, then head toward the Control Zone. Beyond that, the developers stress freedom of approach, from lone wolf to dedicated squad. The Steam Early Access notes say the current build includes large maps with dynamic objective zones, cash and XP progression where actions earn rewards, realistic gunplay balanced for gameplay rather than simulation, vehicles, logistics and support play, and online multiplayer with proximity voice chat.

The developers also list plans for the full release. These are intentions, not confirmed features:

  • More maps, weapons, vehicles, and gameplay variety
  • Deeper progression and a seasonal meta game
  • New vehicle types, including fighter jets
  • Additional objective variations
  • An Early Access period of roughly 1 to 2 years, which may change

The Steam page states that the game is not complete, and that balance changes and feature additions are expected.

Final Overview

WARDOGS is a three-team shooter built on a persistent cash economy, destructible environments, base building, and vehicles, with matches of up to 100 players. Its main idea is that supporting your team pays, and that spending cash wisely matters. It may suit players who enjoy large-scale combined-arms combat and voice-driven teamwork rather than solo-focused modes. Since it is an Early Access title with planned content still to come, anyone interested should read the current store page and the developers’ roadmap notes before buying.
